Trail closing date. Forest County Snowmobile Trails will close at Midnight Sunday. At this time trails are still rideable but pay attention to changing conditions as warm temps and bright sunlight can change things very fast. This years season started slow and ended up being a big snowfall year with record snowfall in February. For the LMT it was a great year. A Big Thank You to all our members. Your support is greatly appreciated.Wayne DaulLMT President

Mixed weather, trail closing info, club meeting, fundraiser...Looks like this week's weather will feature lots of variety, cold, warm (50 on Thursday), rain, and snow. You name it we got it. Today we are running three shifts of grooming to make sure everything is laid down before it gets too warm to groom. Right now rain and warm temps will most likely prevent grooming again until Friday or Saturday. Temps need to be under 28 for at least six hours in order for us to groom. It looks like we should have decent riding conditions for this weekend. We may get up to an inch of rain Wednesday and Thursday. Everything should hold up except perhaps plowed roads where logging is still going on. Next week shows temps above freezing but cold enough to groom at night. Should be good but bright sunny days can eat a lot of snow even if it's in the 20's.Do I know when the trails will close??There is no set date in Forest County. As long as the trails are safe to ride they will stay open. Once the Fat Lady starts singing and bare spots make travel hazardous, the Forest County Snow Council will set a closing date. She's not singing yet but it appears she's clearing her throat and freeing up her schedule. I will keep everyone posted as conditions start to change. My recommendation is ride now while you can. If history is a guide, we have only groomed into April about three times. My best guess is probably two more weekends. Don't wait too long! And remember ride safe. This weeks events.Thursday the 14th we will be at Pour Judgment in Wabeno for our March meeting.Meeting at 5:00 p.m.Cocktails about 5:45 p.m.Dinner to order-- 6:00 to 6:30 p.m. Saturday the 16th we will be working with Snow-Mo-Wheeler's Club at Wild Rose on Robert's Lake. Awesome fund raiser with large Meat Raffle and other donated items. 100% of the profits will be used towards trail maintenance. This event takes the place of the one canceled because of the snow storm two weeks ago. Todd at Wild Rose is also celebrating his Anniversary. I expect a great crowd and a good time for a great cause. Quite a few LMT groomer drivers will be there selling raffle tickets. This is our last fund raiser/meat raffle this year. However, it is not the end of fund raising. We just printed tickets for our huge CASH RAFFLE. We have a limited number of tickets printed offering $1,000.00 of cash prizes (first place $500.00). Tickets are $10.00 each. Winners will be drawn on July 14th at our shop in Wabeno at 2:00 p.m. This is our only summer raffle and it is on the same day as Wabeno Steam Up Days and parade. We will have an open house with a good old fashioned barbecue along with home made sweets and of course Beer. You need not be present to win. But why miss a great party.Wayne DaulLMT President

March Meeting and Important Grooming InfoTrails are finally setting nice and hard. We have had very powdery snow that doesn't hold up very well and the trails were bumpy by early afternoon. That has changed and they are holding up good now, however this weekend with warmer temps and more fresh snow expect conditions to change quickly. Right now trails are rated very good to excellent with an over abundance of deep snow. Be alert for groomers and please understand with such deep snow they must stay on the trails! They can not pull over for you to pass as they would most likely get stuck. We also can't widen the trails without getting stuck, we have to live with these conditions for now. It is wise for snowmobilers when seeing a groomer to immediately look for a safe spot to pull over and wait for the groomer to pass. When coming up from behind a groomer be aware it may take awhile for the driver to find a spot where you can safely get by him. The trails have about 30 inches or more hard base with around 4 feet of snow in the woods. Because of the deep snow the field near Windfall isn't being groomed at this time. Also some ditch trails or roadside trails may not be groomed because of deep snow or huge plow berms. All clubs are experiencing the same problems with just about every club dealing with stuck groomers the last two weeks. If some of the snow totals projected for this Sunday actually happen, expect more issues. There is even rain in some forecasts for next week. If this occurs the number of collapsed roofs will surely increase. Speaking of roof collapses, the building next to our groomer parking location caved in so we are now parked by Wild Rose so that we can plug in. Thanks Todd! Lots of Deer on the trails because of the deep snow. Please slow down and give them time to find a spot to get off of the trail. They are weak and vulnerable this time of the year so don't stress them. Thank You!March's membership meeting will be held Thursday, March 14th at Pour Judgment located in Wabeno at 4509 North Branch Street. The new owners have added to the menu and people who have been there are giving them great reviews. I look forward to our first meeting there.Wayne Daul LMT PresidentMeeting at 5:00 p.m.Cocktails at 5:45 p.m.Dinner at about 6:30 p.m. order from Menu
